Club Meeting – February 8, 2011

The next Old Capitol Coin Club meeting, February 8, 2011, the topic will be elongated coins and “Hobo” nickels. “Hobo” nickels were made by traveling “bums” in the 30’s and 40’s and traded for food.  Newer versions are crafted by various artists.  Elongated coins are “smashed” by a machine and embossed as souvenirs.

The club meets at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, Highway 6 West, at 7 p.m in the 3rd floor cafeteria.

Numismatic items will be for sale on the club’s bid board, in silent aucton style.  Items are placed by club members.
